Counselors and
staff have a tremendous influence on a camper's experience. Staff members are
carefully selected from churches throughout the Allegheny Synod, as well as from
colleges and universities across the United States- many upon recommendations
from pastors and youth leaders.
Each staff person goes through a detailed interview/hiring process (including
national child abuse and Pa. criminal background checks along with a check of
the national sex offender registry) and all are required to attend the intensive
10 day long staff orientation/training in order to ensure a safe and fun
experience for all of our campers.
Parent comments have included, "The staff was very attentive and genuinely
interested in the kids," And Camp staffers were enthusiastic and great role
models."
A medical professional, who is on duty 24 hours a day, will greet parents and
campers upon arrival, and will return medications, etc. on departure day. All
staff members review safety regulations during their training programs and many
receive certification in CPR/First Aid.
"Chaplains of the Week" will also be in attendance throughout the summer to
assist with the curriculum, facilitate small and large group discussions, lead
daily and closing worship, and provide other guidance and leadership.
